NEWS Now that the clocks have changed and the days are noticeably longer we are all keeping our fingers crossed for a long hot Summer. Even a short hot Summer would be nice after last year.
As usual we offered our 3 day Bank Holiday Break over Easter and will be doing the same on the other Bank holidays this year excluding Christmas. Over the New Year period we offer a different 3 day break and please telephone us for more details. To take advantage of the Bank Holiday Break rate you have to stay 3 consecutive nights - one of which must include the Bank Holiday weekend. This allows great flexibility as you may arrive any day from the Wednesday prior to the Bank Holiday through to the Monday. The break includes the 3 days dinner, room, full English breakfast and V.A.T. Also a bottle of house champagne on the day of your choice and a light afternoon tea each day. The rates are per room for 2 people for the 3 nights. (Not per person, per night as we usually quote.) Standard rooms are £690.00, medium £770.00 and superior £820.00 Easter Sunday was the last time this year that we will be serving lunch to non residents unless you wish to book a private party. With advance warning we are happy to open the restaurant for parties of 10 or more. This offers unrivalled privacy and the chance to indulge with your favourite foods.
If you are not able to manage a full meal you are very welcome to enjoy morning coffee or a light afternoon tea. If you would like a full afternoon tea then we do require at least 24 hours notice. For those of you with special celebrations please do ask about taking the house for exclusive use. We all really enjoy the change and challenge of creating your perfect house party and with just 12 double rooms, an airy dining room and huge lounges Farlam is the perfect house to entertain and relax in. Buying a gift these days can be a real nightmare. We are able to take away some of the strain as we offer vouchers for any amount. Please do ask if we can help solve your present problem. Farlam was extended in the 1800’s for a large family to live and entertain in and we love the fact that this is still what the house is used for today in the 21st Century. Many things have changed – for example we now use the old kitchen garden both as a paddock and private place to land helicopters or park horse boxes and trailers. The old flower room is now the Gents toilets and the Gun room doubles up as a store and holds the freezer that we keep for visiting fishermen to use. The house has changed and will keep changing to fit our needs but the welcome that our staff and the house offer will not. We hope very much to have the chance of making you welcome in 2008 and please do not hesitate to contact us if we can answer any questions or be of help at any time. Please return to catch the latest information. The Good Hotel Guide has been kind enough to include us in their Top 10 Country House Escapes for the UK.
