We hope you all had a wonderful summer and enjoyed the amazing sunshine. Apart from hurricane Bertha being a nuisance – just in time for the glorious 12th – we think it has been the best summer for years. Now we are looking forward to the autumn and winter period when we have more time for events and special occasions.
Over the years the readers of The Good Hotel Guide have kindly written to the guide on many occasions praising their stays with us. You cannot pay to be in the guide and all recommendations are carefully monitored by the editors to make sure that no hotel is trying to cheat their way in. These kind reports lead to us being awarded their Cesar Award for top country house hotel of the year in 2001 and to maintaining a Cesar award ever since. This year we have been chosen as one of the Editors Choice of Top 10 Country House Hotels in the country and so many thanks again to everyone who wrote in our behalf.Our Autumn
Brunch will be on Sunday 2nd November at 11.00 a.m., price £29.00. If you would like to stay on the Saturday night to make a lazy weekend, the price will be £125.00 per person inclusive of dinner, bed and brunch instead of breakfast.
The Christmas Tea with seasonal music will be on Sunday, 14th December and for many people is the real start of Christmas. Price £29.00. If you would like to stay with us after the tea, the rate for tea, room and breakfast will be £90.00. A full dinner menu will be available and priced per course, so if you fancy something light about 8.00 p.m. you will not have to go hungry.
On Christmas Eve, 24th December - we will be celebrating with our usual black tie dinner. This is an evening we love as there is always that 'end of term' feeling and the celebrations can really begin. We provide hats, crackers and balloons and hope that everyone will relax, unwind and start Christmas with us, price £52.50.
We will then close until the morning of December 31st 2014 when we re-open and offer a 3 day break for residents and an extended black tie dinner on New Year's Eve. For the three day break we do still have some availability and prices for the three days, dinner, room, breakfast and V.A.T. for 2 people are £1040.00, £1160.00 and £1220.00. The extended dinner is once again the perfect excuse to relax and enjoy good food and wine in a festive atmosphere, price £80.00.
The New Year always starts with a really busy day for us as it is one of the few days of the year when we open the restaurant and serve a full lunch, price £40.00.
We close again on 4th January for our normal spell of decorating. We sometimes wonder just how much paint and paper we have used over the years! - and we re-open on Friday 23rd January 2015 and life returns to normal.
Looking at the calendar for early 2015 there is only one weekend in February and March where we have rooms available all weekend. This will make it more difficult for some people to get away, to try to tempt you to visit us during this period we aare offering an ‘Escape the Winter Rate’. This will be available from January 23rd up to and including March 28th 2015 (excluding February 13th, 14th, and 15th 2015). The rate will be £120.00 per person, per night and includes dinner, room, full English breakfast and VAT. It is only available by booking directly with us by telephone or e-mail.
On Sunday 1st February Frank Stainton will once again be hosting a lunchtime wine tasting. The price for the lunch and wine will be £60.00. Our after lunch rate of £85.00 will be available again and includes room, full English breakfast and 2 courses from the dinner menu. We are leaving the subject of the wines up to Frank and so it will be a mystery. Nights either side of the Sunday will be £125.00 per person, for dinner, bed and breakfast.
Valentine's Day this year is on Saturday 14th February. Dinner will be £50.00 per person and if you wish to stay that night the rate per person for dinner, bed and breakfast will be £155.00. If you are able to add a night either side the rate for the 13th and 15th February will be £120.00 per person for dinner, bed and breakfast.
As usual we will be celebrating both Mothering Sunday, March 15th and Easter Sunday April 5th by serving a full lunch in the restaurant. On Mothering Sunday our After Lunch rate of £85.00 will apply again. Both lunches will be £40.00 per person.
Some of these events may be advertised on our website but please be aware that they may only be booked by a direct telephone call or e-mail and are not available through any agent.
These are just some suggestions for excuses to celebrate at Farlam. We will be celebrating our 40 years here in June 2015 and so there will be some more opportunities to join us. If we are able to help plan any special occasion for you, do not hesitate to get in touch. The drawing room and dining room are both licensed for civil ceremonies and with advance notice we are able to help with breakfasts, lunches and full afternoon teas as well as our normal dinner 7 days a week.
