All through December we offer our usual menus but for
parties of 10 or more if you would prefer our Festive Party Menu, please
The house will be decorated for Christmas from early
December but not before.
Now that the frosts and cold weather have finally arrived
all of a sudden Christmas seems to be getting closer! We refuse to
put our decorations
up in November and so in early December we get them all out and decide
what we are going to do. It takes at least a day per room to put them
up and is a slow process with a great many trips up and down the ladder
with hammer in hand – a good way of keeping fit.
We really enjoy the Autumn and the run up to Christmas with all the celebrations
and parties. This year we have enjoyed three exclusive use parties. Farlam
was built for a large family to live and entertain in and so is the perfect
venue for a private party at all times of the year.
Out next event is our Christmas Tea on Sunday December 15th at 3.00pm.
We love this afternoon as we serve a full tea in the restaurant and our
friend Stuart plays a fabulous selection of Christmas music. For a great
many people this really is the start of their Christmas.
We no longer serve Christmas Day lunch but we are open for an extended
dinner on Christmas Eve. There is always a lovely relaxed feel to this
evening as people are able to relax knowing that it is too late to do
any more shopping! We suggest that the gentlemen wear their dinner jackets
to complement the ladies who always dress up. The price is £55.00
The hotel and restaurant are then closed until December 31st when we
re-open and offer a celebration dinner that night and a three day break
for residents. The dinner is an extended one and the restaurant is dressed
for a party with crackers and things to play with but we do not offer
any formal entertainment.
Due to some late and unexpected cancellations due to illness we do now
have some vacancies and so please do contact us if you are interested.
On New Year’s Day we offer a full lunch in the restaurant for those
who prefer to celebrate the New Year at a more reasonable hour of the
We close on the morning of Sunday January 5th for almost three weeks.
This gives us a chance to have a holiday and also to do some alterations.
This year we are altering one of the ground floor bedrooms so that it
will not have a bath but a large walk in shower to make life easier for
those who no longer wish to climb the stairs. Other bedrooms will also
be re-decorated again – we sometimes wonder how much paint we have
put on the house over the years.
We re-open on Friday 24th January with Valentine’s Day being our
first celebration. Dinner only will be £49.50 per person. If you
can stay over then the rate for dinner, room, full English breakfast
and V.A.T. will be £130.00 and if you are able to add a night on
before or after then the rate for the extra nights will be £112.50
per person for dinner, room, full English breakfast and V.A.T.
We are holding our Wine Tasting on Sunday 16th but at the moment we are
fully booked. If you would like some information on this please do give
us a call.
Our next lunches are Mother’s Day on Sunday March 30th and Easter
Sunday April 20th and both will be £40.00 per person.
We hope we have not confused you with all this information and if you
have any queries please do not hesitate to contact us again. Farlam is
a wonderful place to celebrate and having two rooms licenced for civil
ceremonies we are able to help with most events. If you coming to us
just on your own please do not worry at the thought of all these events – we
never take bookings that intrude on other guests and so if there are
just 2 or 22 you should still be able to enjoy yourselves.
I hope we will have the pleasure of looking after you in the future and
that 2014 is a great year for us all.
With best wishes,
Barry, Lynne and Helen.
